September: A Look At What to Love

As September starts there is so much to look forward to in the world of entertainment, and so many things we have to talk about.

As it’s a holiday, today’s update will be a quick look at what is on the radar, and a chance to throw love at some things that we’re excited to show some love.

The Lord of the Rings - Rings of Power

TV:

Rings of Power has started, and we have not started it yet. But once we do, we will have plenty to say. The first season gave that comforting awe-inspiring new world to discover feeling that only Middle Earth can bring and we can’t wait to see what this new season brings to expanding this adaptation of the history of that incredible place. As cooler days come closer, those cozy middle earth vibes will be ringing in the season of sweaters, fires, and po-tay-toes.

Deadpool & Wolverine

Movies:

We’ll have more to say about it later, but the movie of the summer has to be Deadpool and Wolverine. It is absolutely absurd that a movie so willfully foul, gross, obscene, and every other descriptor you throw at the gore, dialogue, and overall nastiness — all of which is meant as a compliment to the  complete success at achieving what they were going for by the way —  that movie is the movie that had the most heart and soul of anything we’ve seen in a long time.

It’s a tribute not just to the titular characters, but in true form, a fourth wall breaking love letter to the last 25 years of comic book movies. It is in its nature an extension of the core of its characters: despite everything dark, or inappropriate, or irreverent about them, they are beloved because they have soul. They are beloved not because they’re perfect, but rather because they’re not. They don’t inspire us in the way a Superman or Spider-Man might, by being the best of us. They inspire by sometimes being our worst, and striving to and accomplishing better anyway.

It was having heroes back on the big screen again in a way that felt as fresh as it did the first time we saw them.

LFG.

Star Wars - Outlaws

Gaming:

Star Wars Outlaws can only be reviewed in progress because we’re taking our time with this one. But the time we’ve taken, oh man. What a time. Its early hours, mechanics still appearing, setup still occurring, all of that being in beginning stages, and the thing that stands out the most is the characters. Every new person met feels like encountering a real person from the galaxy far far away, and there is so much more galaxy left to encounter.

Also, said it already, will say again:

Kay Vess and Nix.

I love them like I know them personally.
I gotta get back to them.

And that wraps us for today.

More will be coming this month that I can’t wait to share, but for now, let me know for yourselves, what are you enjoying right now?
